Workshop FAQ

It’s a big universe, but we have answers for you. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, send an email to events@github.com.

Can I get a receipt for my workshop ticket?

Yes. To find your receipt:

  • Log in to your Eventbrite account
  • Click Tickets in the drop-down menu on your profile photo in the top-right corner
  • Click GitHub Universe 2018
  • Click Print Tickets to download and print your ticket confirmation

Can I cancel my ticket and get a refund?

Yes. You can get a refund if you complete the request process on or before October 9. To request a refund:

  • Log in to your Eventbrite account
  • Click Tickets in the drop-down menu on your profile photo in the top-right corner
  • Click GitHub Universe 2018
  • Click Request a Refund and complete the form

Can I buy a ticket for Workshop Day only?

No, Workshop Day is permitted for those who have purchased a general admission Universe ticket.

Do I need to download anything in advance for the workshops?

An email will instructions will be sent closer to event day which will provide information for being prepared on-site. Installing software prior to event day isn't required.

Do I need a GitHub account for workshops?

Yes, you will need a GitHub account (not your GitHub Enterprise username) to participate in some workshops. If you don’t have a GitHub account, create one.

Will the workshops have WiFi?

Yes.

Will the workshops have captioning or language translation?

No.

Will there be a nursing room at the venue?

Yes. You're welcome to nurse in the video screening nook at the end of the Sala Webb Education Center in the Zim Zoom Family Room, but it's not completely private. For complete privacy, let someone at registration know, and we'll make sure you have a space you feel comfortable in.

Will there be gender-neutral bathrooms at the venue?

Family and gender-neutral restrooms are located on first level, near Wise Sons Deli.

Does the venue accommodate mobile disabilities?

All levels of the building are accessible by elevators and fully accessible for visitors with mobile disabilities.

Will there be a place for me to store my things at the venue?

We’ll have a coat check area you can use to drop off luggage, but please don’t leave valuables.

Where do I go if I lose something?

If the event is in progress, stop by the check-in desk to check if someone dropped off your lost item. After the event, send us a note to events@github.com with a description of the item.

Will the workshops be recorded?

No.

Will the workshops have food?

No meals are provided. We'll have light snacks and a set break at 3:45pm with continuous beverage service is provided throughout the program. If you are arriving into the city early, we encourage you to check out dining options located in Yerba Buena, near the venue. The Yerba Buena Gardens is a great place to eat or relax before the event.

Do you accommodate special dietary needs?

We provide vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free food options. If you have additional dietary needs, let us know at least 48 hours in advance, and we’ll do our best to provide an option that works for you.

Is there parking at the venue?

We recommend that you use ride-sharing services or park in a nearby public garage. Visitor drop-off/pick-up is located on Mission Street at the curb-cut in front of The Contemporary Jewish Museum between Third and Fourth streets.

Could a photo of me at the event be used in promotional materials?

Yes. We occasionally use photos taken at Universe by our photographers in promotional materials.

What should I do if I don’t want my photo taken?

Inform our Registration Team when you check in, and they’ll give you a red lanyard to let our photographers know.

Does Universe have a Code of Conduct?
